One of its functions is to advise the Minister for Education and Skills on the curriculum and syllabus requirements of students with disabilities or with special educational needs. The response of the children to this intervention then determines whether they are designated as having a learning disability.
If it is determined that your child will not make progress in the regular education classroom, other options can be considered. Children may need services in this area to help them develop appropriate social interaction skills. IEPs require (1) an evaluation by the child’s school; (2) the determination of eligibility; and (3) the development of the IEP by the school’s IEP team.
