The NHDOE is committed to helping students, parents, and educators (including teachers, principals, superintendents, and school communities) meet the educational needs of each student. As president and spokesperson of SAIH Beathe has been active in the public debate both in Norway and internationally regarding the right to education, violations of students’ rights globally, decolonizing higher education and nuanced aid communication.
In fact, shortly after Brown was decided the Illinois Supreme Court found that compulsory education did not apply to mentally impaired students, and as late as 1969, it was a crime to try to enroll a handicapped child in a public school if that child had ever been excluded.
The Board is composed of the following eleven members: the superintendent of public instruction, the president of a state university or state college, four lay members, a president or chancellor of a community college district, a person who is an owner or administrator of a charter school, a superintendent of a high school district, a classroom teacher and a county school superintendent.
The BOE authorizes the School Business Administrator to pay the sum of $200 dollars to any person who is not an employee or relative of an employee of the Bayonne Board of Education, who provides credible, factual information that leads to the removal of a student illegally in our school district.
Beginning in 1936, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund decided to take on the case of Lloyd Gaines, a graduate student of Lincoln University (an all-black college) who applied to the University of Missouri Law School but was denied because of his race.
