The best teachers I had throughout my formal education and beyond were those who not just caused me to think but who helped me to learn the purpose of thinking. Greek philosophers Plato, Socrates and Aristotle are among the major figures who laid the foundations of educational philosophy. I believe children have greater respect for their teachers, their peers, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and sure of what is expected of them.

Education was the process by which people became like each other instead of becoming their unique Selves. They either expand and enhance my identity or, they diminish and marginalize it. This principle is experienced in our schools everyday with profound negative effects on a student’s identity and their social role.
