What is your opinion of math? These standards are based on a philosophy of teaching and learning mathematics that is consistent with the most current research and exemplary practices. Children are introduced to applying math in real life examples and to notice how math is everywhere. As the level of grade increases, students are taught with more enhanced concepts, such as ratios, proportions, fractions, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, etc.
