A few years ago, educational researchers David Pearson and Nell Duke asked the question, “What kind of thinking happens when proficient readers read?” This question led to ground breaking research results that have changed the way teachers teach children to read. This is what teacher strive for, an place where learning is the center of each students thinking. Courage, for example, is required of military personnel, while people in business act ruthlessly at times in order to survive in that Darwinian world. The emphasis of our inquiry is the target of the educational interaction – learning.
