special educationThe Special Education Program at Shippensburg University continually evolves to meet the needs of a changing society. Special education teachers work in a variety of settings. At which the teacher may make the decision for the student to receive support from a special education specialist. The programme’s participants are Special Education teachers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste and Southern part of Thailand (Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla).

SPED teachers are always patient and understanding of their students. Other special education teachers include art and dance therapists, teachers who have extra training in working with emotionally disturbed children. The IDEA (reauthorized in 2004) ensures a free appropriate public education (FAPE) is provided to children and youth with disabilities at public expense.

In the first semester of 2017, the microteaching room was used to facilitate the PPG SM-2T activities held by the Fashion Education study program. She says it was a good experience for Nico, but the mix of conditions in the class made it extremely difficult for the teachers to meet the needs of each individual student.

In a small school, the headteacher or deputy may take on the role; in larger schools, there may be an SEN coordinating team. These include assessments, education plans and other support services. After taking this program, the graduates will be granted a certificate of Primary School Teacher Profession.

Assessments are usually undertaken in accordance with the transition planning arrangements for young people with statements of special educational needs (SEN) who are approaching the end of compulsory education (age 16).
