Students that are deemed eligible for a SMART award receive $4,000 a year from the program, and, importantly for those students from poorer backgrounds, the award of a SMART grant does not count against any other grants-whether federal or state, to which the student may be eligible or in receipt of. The SMART program itself was initiated specifically in order to persuade and motivate more students to take degree programs that were deemed to be in high demand.
In 1963, the Faculty of Science Education and Teaching and the Teacher Education Institute (under the National Ministry of Education) were integrated into the Institute of Teacher Training and Pedagogy or Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP).
The Department of Pedagogy is the department that organizes educational programs to prepare child education personnel and experts, as well as to provide services to the public at large with respect to the fostering and development of childhood education.
In other words, they must be registered with the Selective Service if required, they must not have defaulted on a student loan in the past, they can have no record of conviction on charges of sales or possession of drugs, and they must maintain a certain grade point average (GPA) to continue to receive student loans from the Department of Education.
