Providing a physical education component while home schooling is an important part of the education of your child and it is actually one of the major challenges faced by parents that choose to use a homeschooling program to educate their kids. As part of the project, not only were the pupils recognised for their written contributions at school awards evenings, but unlike in traditional PE, their work left a trail of learning evidence and intellectual engagement – which the schools recognised and celebrated.
All available lower secondary level school PE teachers in the city will participate in the teacher-training phase of the study, irrespective of their participation, as the city Education Department has accepted the teacher-training phase to be part of PE teachers’ regular in-service training.
PE teachers assigned to the intervention condition will receive a two-week, 12-h training program comprising basic information on how to promote out-of-school physical activity and theory-based training on strategies to promote students’ autonomous motivation toward physical activity.
The purpose of the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education is to communicate national and international research and stimulate discussion, study, and critique of teaching, teacher education, and curriculum as these fields relate to physical activity in schools, communities, higher education, and sport.
To evaluate academic performance, we included all children who finished 9th grade from 2003 to 2012 in all of Sweden (cohort C – 1,161,807 children) and in the intervention school (cohort D – 633 children) and evaluated the grade scores and eligibility for upper secondary school programs in both cohorts.
